30 feared dead as triple bomb blasts occur in Borno State

The Borno state government has confirmed that at least 30 persons may have lost their lives after three bombs were detonated at Mandarari ward, Konduga village, 25km from Maiduguri last night.

Giving casualty figures, Director Emergency Response State Emergency Management Agency, Borno state, Usman Kachalla, said that 42 persons were also critically injured.

An earlier toll from the blasts said 17 were dead and 17 others were wounded.

The Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were denoted at a viewing centre at about 9.15 p.m. on Sunday.
Another bomber (female) whose IED failed to detonate has been handed over to the Nigerian Army.

According to Usman Kachalla, “When my team arrived Konduga early this morning, the military prevented us from gaining access to the community to assist the victims.

“They told us they were given order from above not to open the road until 9 am," he lamented.

Though there has been no claim of responsibility yet, but the attack bore the hallmark of Boko Haram.

It is estimated that the Boko Haram's insurgency has claimed over 30,000 lives and displaced millions of people from their homes.
