UK Churches on terror alert as French priest murder. ISIS warns London "next to be attacked"

UK Churches are now on terror alert after images threatening attacks and other major cities were posted on Telegram, a messaging app used by jihadis.

One of the pictures shows the image of New York’s Statue of Liberty in flames with the inscription "Washington Soon".

British counter-terror police have now “circulated specific advice” to churches across the UK amid fears of a similar attack.

According to Neil Basu, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, "There is no specific intelligence relating to attacks against the Christian community in the UK.

"However, as we have seen, Daesh and other terrorist groups have targeted Christian as well as Jewish and other faith groups in the West and beyond.

"Following recent events in France, we are reiterating our protective security advice to Christian places of worship and have circulated specific advice today. We are also taking this opportunity to remind them to review their security arrangements as a precaution.

"While the threat from terrorism remains unchanged at severe, we urge the public to be vigilant."

This threat is coming a few hours after a French priest was murdered in the city of Normandy.

Baptist Pastor Attacked by Fulani Herdsmen

Few days after a slain pastor in one part of Nasarawa State (Nigeria) was buried, a Muslim Fulani herder in another part of the state cut off part of the hand of another pastor while he was working on his farm.

The Rev'd. Hamza Alkali, 66 reportedly had the rest of his hand and wrist amputated after the attack.

Recounting his ordeal, the Pastor said the Fulani herder could have succeeded in taking his life if God was not with him, because he told the Fulani herder that God created him (Pastor Hamza) in his image and will not give him power to kill me.

Pastor Alkali said when he first saw the herdsman coming onto his farm, he thought he was just passing through. He continued working until the Fulani herdsman came to him to ask for his phone which he told him he left at home. The Fulani man insisted that the Pastor give him his phone after which he pulled out his sword and attacked the Pastor. The Pastor tried to protect his face by raising his hands up and within seconds the sword cut off his left hand into two.

The Pastor saw part of his cut-off hand on the ground bouncing around. The Pastor rushed at the Fulani man, wrestled with him and held him in spite of his bleeding hand. While on the ground the herdsman was still gripping the sword, but the Pastor managed to take it from him and the herdsman ran away.

Then the Pastor shouted for help and some Christians working on farms close to his, came to rescue him and took him to the hospital.

South African Bishops Call for Voting of Credible Candidates

The South African Catholic Bishops' Conference has called on the country's faithful to perform their civic duty by voting for credible and patriotic candidates. The Bishops' appeal was contained in a Pastoral letter issued at the end of the conference plenary addressed to the faithful citizens of the country.

It was signed by Archbishop William Slattery OFM, the president of the Bishops' Conference.

While praying that the elections will usher-in leaders who will contribute to building the society desired for the country by God, the Bishops declared :"These elections come at a time when many are struggling with unemployment, the rising cost of living, household debt, lack of basic resources, the slow pace of service delivery, and high levels of crime.".

The Bishops added: "We need mayors and councilors who have genuine concern for the economy and other hardships that our citizens are enduring. No one wants leaders who are intent on making money and are only interested in part politics.''

The Bishops called for a free and fair election and also called on the country's political parties to refrain from inflammatory, intimidating and inappropriate statements.

The 2016 Municipal Elections will to take place on Wednesday, 3 August 2016 and this day has been declared a public holiday in South Africa by President Zuma.
