New Audio and Video: I’ll Be There - James Numbere

James Numbere is a ticking time bomb waiting to detonate and that time is now. This Singer/Songwriter has been described as having a soulful and mesmerising voice by musical experts all over the globe.

On hearing him for the first time, Xantoné Blacq (Keyboardist for Amy Winehouse) exclaimed: ‘I Love Your Voice’. After having been writing songs for over five years, James finally releases his official debut single I’ll Be There.

I’ll Be There is a celebration of love, family and friendship, values that bind us together as humans as James aptly sings, ‘we were never meant to go through life alone’

Recently having worked with One Republic, All Saints, Foxes and LCGC (London Community Gospel Choir ) for BBC Radio 2’s 500 words, James is continuously expanding his horizon and it can confidently be said that for this up and coming artist, the sky is just the beginning.

Already in rotation on BBC Introducing London and being described by Mark Forrest on the Mark Forrest Show as simply ‘great’, I’ll be there will have you clapping and dancing in no time.

Governor Aregbesola threatens to expel students wearing unauthorized uniforms in Osun State

Governor Rauf Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has threatened to expel students that come to school wearing unauthorised school uniforms.

This threat is in reaction to the instruction of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state that students should appear in school in church garments.

The Christian Association of Nigeria has insisted Christian pupils will continue to wear church garments and other apparels to public schools if Muslim students continued wearing hijab.

It was gathered by Daily Post that some students of Baptist High School, Iwo stormed the school wearing different church garments.

One of the leaders of the CAN, who spoke to journalists at the school premises, Mr. Paul Olagoke, said they came to ensure that Christian students were not denied the right to wear their church garments to the school.

Rev. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle emerges as the new Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President

Rev. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle emerged as the new Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President. He will take over from Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.

Reverend Ayokunle
He defeated Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) who represented the Organisation of African Instituted Churches, OAIC, with 57 votes to 28 at an election held yesterday at the National Christian Centre in Central Business District of Abuja.

Reverend Ayokunle is the PRESIDENT of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) and candidate of the Christian Council of Nigeria.

By the CAN constitution, Prof. Joseph Otubu, who emerged runner-up in the elections automatically becomes the Vice President of the Association for the next three years of the soon to be sworn in administration.

In his acceptance speech yesterday, the president-elect of CAN acknowledged that the task ahead is enormous and therefore urged the Christian gathering to bury their hatchets and team up with his soon-to-be sworn in administration to ensure the peace and progress of Christianity in the country.

Sueing for unity in an acceptance speech titled, “My Vision for CAN”, Rev. Ayokunle said: “I am aspiring to lead Christian Association of Nigeria so as to be able to facilitate an atmosphere where the member churches of CAN can have a more effective fellowship and dialogue on Christian faith, its defence in Nigeria and all over the world.

‘’I intend to facilitate a fellowship where love flows and peace prevails in all the member churches. ”To this end, all would be done to see that CAN is a united body and all wrangling within the body would be addressed for unity of purpose. This would be priority number one.’’

Pope Francis unveils new law to deal with paedophile priests

The Catholic head, Pope Francis, has unveiled a new church law to deal with paedophile priests. According to the Pontiff, Catholic bishops who fail to sack paedophile priests can be removed from office under new church laws.

This answers one of the demands of victims of abuse that Catholic Bishops should be responsible if they fail to punish clergy sexually abusing parishioners. The victims had complained that Bishops simply moved priests accused of abuse to another parish, rather than report them to police or church authorities.

The church laws currently allows for a Bishop to be removed for negligence, however this now includes the particular negligence.

During his visit to the US last September, the pontiff met victims of Catholic church sex abuse and vowed that those responsible would face justice. It was the first time Francis had met abuse victims outside of Rome, where he had done so once before. The pope had already apologised for the church’s inadequate response to the US abuse crisis.

Prayer for reading Scripture

A Prayer Before Reading Scripture

Open my eyes, gracious Lord, as I turn to your word.
I long to know you, to understand life, and to be changed.
Examine me, Lord, by the floodlight of your truth.

Amen.

A Prayer After Reading Scripture

May the word I have read, Lord, be planted deeply in my mind and heart.
Help me not to walk away and forget it, but to meditate on it and obey it
and so built my life on the rock of your truth.

Amen.
