President Buhari's Easter message to Nigerians

President Buhari's Easter message to Nigerians...

“Fellow Nigerians,

I rejoice with you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, as we celebrate Easter.

For Christians all over the world, this celebration is in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice which Jesus Christ made for the salvation of mankind.

The Gospels also tell us that during his earthly ministry, Jesus Christ repeatedly urged his disciples and followers to “love one another as I have loved you”.

As we celebrate Easter this year, I sincerely believe that it will serve our dear nation very well if we all imbibe this essential message of Jesus Christ and truly learn to love our countrymen and women as we love ourselves.

Indeed, we will surely make faster progress towards the achievement of the peaceful, united, strong, progressive and prosperous country we all desire if, as a nation, we eschew all divisive, parochial, ethnic and religious sentiments and rivalries, and begin to live more harmoniously with our compatriots, as Jesus Christ and the founders of the world’s other great religions enjoined mankind.

Happy Easter.

He is Risen indeed. Alleluia

Muslim Fulani herdsmen, believed to be buoyed by Boko Haram insurgents posing as the nomadic cattlemen, continue to occupy farmland in Benue state, Nigeria, two weeks after killing more than 300 Christian farmers there in a longstanding land dispute.

Heavily armed Fulani herdsmen massacred the farmers and displaced thousands of others in an onslaught of attacks that began as early as Feb. 22 and, despite some reports that the assailants have retreated, the herdsmen have remained in Benue as thousands of their cattle eat crops and graze cultivated land, Morning Star News reported March 11.

'Pardon Rev. King', Christian Youths Beg Buhari & Lagos State Govt

Nigerian Youths for Christ, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Governor Akiwunmi Ambode, to commute the death sentence passed on the founder and General Overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King.

The youths, who rose from an emergency meeting in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, said their call was based on the biblical injunction on giving an offender an opportunity to repent. They contended that in spite of complaints of irregularities and denials by the police during the course of investigating the case, Rev. King had gone through traumatic ordeals that must have made him to repent and turn a new leaf.

“It is on record that until his conviction by different courts of our land, Rev. King maintained a studied position of not guilty. From all indications, members of the public had already passed death sentence on him without considering whether he was guilty or not.

It is, therefore, our considered opinion that in those years he was made to pass through the judicial processes, he must have communed with his God and punishment for sinners only lies in the hands of our creator who knows all about the affairs of men”, the youths said.

“Moreover, we should take cognisance of the well known lapses in our judicial process and even at that, many developed countries of the world are shying away from outright condemnation of suspects to death and Nigeria should not be an exception. Our position in this matter should not be misconstrued as bordering on dogmatism. It is a prayer for forgiveness based on the facts surrounding the case”.

Northern Christians Warn Emirs Against Child Marriages

Christians in the 19 northern states and Abuja under the aegis of the Northern States Christian Association of Nigeria have warned emirs in the region against forcefully engaging minors into marriage.

Rev. Yakubu Pam gave the warning shortly after his election as the new Chairman of Northern CAN in Kaduna on Friday. Pam took over from Archbishop Peter Jatau as the new Chairman of the more than 40-year-old association.

The new chairman, while addressing journalists, said it was the belief of the Christian body that it was high time traditional rulers in the region, especially, those who harbour Christian minors in their palaces stopped such act.

Christianity and Nigeria’s Miracle Pastors

Nothing – absolutely nothing – will change if we refuse to act wisely or back our prayers and fasting with positive and proactive actions. Nothing will change if we refuse to speak truth to power or demand for accountability, responsible and honest services from those who manage collective resources on our behalf, and who are already handsomely rewarded for these services…Sometimes, I wonder how the followers of these so-called men of God take their flamboyant leaders seriously! How can this year be your year, when all you see on the streets are hopelessness and decay?

A prophet was preaching to his congregation sometime ago. At a point he started denouncing people who had accused him of living a flamboyant lifestyle and who also said that he was a false prophet who cannot suffer and die for the sake of the gospel. In his words, “I will not die for Jesus because Jesus already died for me. I don’t need to suffer because Jesus already suffered for me – and I will not be poor because Jesus lived and died poor so that I would be rich”. He told his followers how he had bought several expensive cars, and how his admires had donated tens of thousands of dollars to

Featured: Does Your Testimony Really Matter?

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. - Luke 8:39

It’s funny how people who’ve had life-changing experiences can talk about them as if they happened yesterday. Take a professional athlete, for example, who can describe the great championship game in detail. And old soldiers often get deeply emotional when remembering their comrade who was killed in battle 60 years ago.

First Christian Suspect in Church Bombing?

A Nigerian civilian self-defense fighter says his group arrested a Christian suspect who confessed to providing intelligence to Boko Haram extremists in the 2011 Christmas Day bombing of a Catholic church that killed 44 worshippers.

Self-defense fighter Sani Musawa said on Wednesday that his group arrested Victor Moses and turned him over to the Nigerian military. He may be the first Christian arrested for belonging to Nigeria's home-grown Islamic extremist group.

RCCG begins 74 hours of Marathon Messiah Praise as it ends 50 days of fasting

The Redeemed Christian Church of God started 74 hours of marathon praise yesterday at 10.00p.m (Nigerian Time) as it ended its 50 days of fasting.

The 74-hour marathon praise also heralds this year’s birthday anniversary of the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye who will be 74 years old on March 2 this year.

Marathon Messiah’s Praise which began at 10.00 p.m. yesterday (February 29) at the Youth Centre, is a non-stop musical extravaganza planned to express gratitude to God for His mercies upon the life of the General Overseer and designed to create a new pattern of praise in this dispensation.

According to the National Youth Programme Director, Pastor Oluwadare Adeboye, the vision of the marathon praise was birthed in 2012 to allow God’s children engage in a long lasting spiritual worship experience, and it has grown bigger and blossomed to become the longest gospel musical event globally.

“The annual worship experience, which started as 70 hours of Marathon Messiah’s Praise, has grown in grace to 71, 72, 73, and now 74, we will be worshipping God for 74 hours non-stop,” he stated. He maintained that this year’s marathon praise will feature the Holy Spirit alongside more than 70 worship leaders simultaneously in three countries—Nigeria, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
