CAN says Catholics are free to leave.

Christian Association of Nigeria
The Christian Association of Nigeria has reacted to the withdrawal of the Catholic Church in Nigeria to pull out of the association, saying they are free to leave.

Speaking on the Catholics’ withdrawal Wednesday, spokesperson for the 19 Northern chapters of CAN, Sunny Oibe, told journalists in Abuja the Catholics were free to go away, the Punch newspaper is reporting this morning.

He also accused the Christian denomination of arrogance, saying they were merely angry because the presidency of the association had moved to another bloc of the group.

Their exit will not affect the association in any way, the CAN spokesperson said.

Mr. Oibe alleged that Catholics had been sulking since its candidate, John Onaiyekan, lost the presidency of the association to Ayo Oritsejafor.

He said, “There are some certain elements in the leadership of CAN led by Cardinal John Onaiyekan because he lost CAN Presidency to Oritsejafor who has a lot of achievements.

Thought For Today: Walking in Favour

“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time is come” (Psalm 102:13).

As a child of God, you’re born into a life of favour. The Bible says, “For thou Lord will bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12). Now that you have come into the kingdom, God has planned for you to walk in His favour every day. As far as God is concerned, there is no situation terrible enough and no enchantment powerful enough to stop you from walking in the favour of God this year! The only thing you need do is to walk in the light of that favour.

What does it mean to walk in the light of your favour

It means to live with the consciousness that you’re the favoured child of a loved God. It means to have a mindset of possibilities. The Bible lets us know that as Christians, we are partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). In other words, you have God’s nature of righteousness and His favour continually abound towards you. Have this consciousness throughout this year. Let it become your meditation, that you’ve received overflowing grace into your life and that grace is working out divine favour in everything that concerns you! With such a mindset, you’ll see the challenges you face as your opportunity to experience victory and glory.

Understand that when God looks at you, He doesn’t see you as someone in need of help. He sees you graced, full of the Holy Ghost and power; He sees one who is favoured! You have to see and agree with His picture of you and say, “Yes Lord, I am who you say I am! Nothing can put me down, because I walk in the light of my favour. Doors of opportunity are consistently opened to me and I am experiencing the favour of God every day!” Hallelujah!
